The merry month of May starts with promising concerts, festivals and recitals. The premiertone artists are traveling around the world to make your Spring Week special.

Violinist Meike Bertram and the Nomos Quartet will give a concert in the Schwanenburg Hanover on May 5. Songs by Beethoven, Shostakovich, Brahms and Janácek can be heard there. The title of the concert is "Gesänge". Barbara Buntrock plays a concert with songs by Brahms, Schubert, Armstrong and Takemitsu on Tuesday at the Schubertiade Hohenems. Cellist László Fenyő is still guesting at the Seoul Spring Chamber Music Festival this week. Jens Peter Maintz will be performing at the concert series Spectrum Concerts on April 30. Here, the sought-after cellist interprets works by Korngold. On Saturday, Joanna Sachryn will give a spring concert with the Schwabacher Kammerorchester in the Markgrafensaal Schwabach. On the following day we are looking forward to a concert of the Duo Breidenstein & Kühne with Jasmin-Isabel Kühne at the Louis Spohr Music Center Braunschweig.
On the 1st of May, a joint performance by Bas Böttcher with the Kuss Quartet will take place at the WDR Funkhaus Köln. The Doric String Quartet will play a concert on Friday in Holkham with music by Martinu, Beethoven, Britten and Mendelssohn. Thorsten Johanns will give a solo concert with the dogma chamber orchestra under the direction of Mikhail Gurewitsch on May 2 and 4 in Offenburg and Fürstenfeldbruck. The flutist Aldo Baerten and the trio Fenix play a concert with Haydn quartets for the Haydn Society Mechelen on Sunday.
Kateryna Titova plays a solo recital in Póvoa de Varzim on Friday. One day later, Elena Gurevich will perform her recital "Piano music from Hollywood & pianistic classics" at the Konzerthaus "zum Gugger" in Bad Wörishofen. In the Santa Clara cellar in Cologne, Nicholas Rimmer gives a concert on Sunday with works by Beethoven, Reinecke, Glinka and Mozart.
Opera fans should focus on the American continent this week: Felix Krieger will conduct three stagings of Mozart's "La Clemenza di Tito" at the Theatro Sao Pedro in Sao Paulo. Gerhard Siegel is back in the MET production of Richard Wagner's opera "Siegfried" in New York on Thursday.
At the end of the month numerous music competitions close their registration portals. You can still register for the International Violin Competition "Rodolfo Lipizer Prize", for the International Aeolus Brass Competition and for the Gottfried Silbermann Organ Competition until April 30. On May 1, the application deadline for the Henle Piano Competition ends. May 2 is the deadline for the Geneva International Music Competition.
