The festival high season is going to continue in August. With hopefully glorious sunshine, you can look forward to numerous performances, concerts and recitals - whether as open air performances or in magnificent concert locations. Our premiertone artists are traveling the world again. We have summarized our event highlights for the new month for you.
At the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, several premiertone artists will be guesting this month. Jens Peter Maintz and Leonard Fu will be performing with Janine Jansen, Amihai Grosz and others at the popular festival on the 2nd and 3rd of August with two concerts in Wotersen and Rendsburg under the title "Meisterschüler Meister". From the 1st to the 3rd of August Nils Mönkemeyer gives several concerts together with Andreas Arend. On the 26th of August, he will once again appear on stage at the SHMF as part of the Hindemith Award Ceremony. In addition, Mönkemeyer gives concerts at the chamber music festival "Franziska Hölscher & Friends" in Mettlach and the Krzyżowa Music 2019 in the Polish Kreisau and will be guesting at the Festival Mecklenburg Vorpommern with the Junge Norddeutsche Philharmonie. Barbara Buntrock will be performing there as well on the 22nd and on the 28th of August.
In August, the Allegro Vivo Festival takes place, where cellist László Fenyö and violinist Sophia Jaffé are going to give several concerts and master classes.
The Kuss Quartet plays a concert at the Rheingau Music Festival on August 13.
The Doric String Quartet is heading to the Edinburgh International Festival this month. From August 31, the ensemble will also be performing at the Mendelssohn on Mull Festival.
From the 30th of August the Classical Festival Fermate Birkweiler will take place, where bassoonist Philipp Zeller will give several concerts at different venues.
Marianna Shirinyan will be guesting at the Rosendahl Chamber Music Festival on August 8. On August 18 she will be at the Stiftfestival in Weerselo.
The Engadin Festival is looking forward to a recital with Jan Schultsz and works by Brahms.
Nicholas Rimmer plays at the Festival “Begegnungen” in Kassel at the end of the month, on August 29.
In Configni, Italy, Hossein Pishkar conducts a concert of the orchestra fiarmonica "Vittorio Calamani" as part of the Festival della Piana del Cavaliere.
Concerts / Recitals
Even beyond well-known festival stages, August comes with a rich concert program. The Novus String Quartet will perform several concerts this month in Zeist in the Netherlands and in Wissembourg. In its luggage the ensemble has works by Mozart, Mendelssohn Bartholdy and many more.
Britz Castle in Berlin will host a concert of the Berliner Cellharmoniker on 24th of August.
Claudio Bohórquez will perform a chamber music concert with Daishin Kashimoto, violin, and Yu Kosuge, piano, at Suntory Hall Tokyo on August 2.
Joanna Sachryn will start her tour with the New Cologne Piano Trio Shanghai on August 28, with concerts planned in Shanghai and Guangzhou. Together, they interpret works by Beethoven and Shostakovich.
Harpist Jasmin-Isabel Kühne will be performing on August 22 at the Europa Open Air Concert in Frankfurt with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra.
On August 5 Paul Rivinius will perform a concert in Llublijana with Matthias Höfs, Sarah Christian and other artists.
Nicholas Rimmer is looking forward to his duo recital with Feng Ning on the violin, which will take place on August 27 in Città di Castello.
Conductor Daniel Raiskin will tour South Africa starting August 22. Here he conducts concerts with the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in Durban and with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra in Johannesburg.
Laura Zarina will be working as a lecturer at the European Youth Orchestra Academy in Mannheim from August 25 on.
